Community Interpreting

In 1993, founder Michael Rizzolo recognized and responded to the need for an interpreter referral service in the Rochester, NY area that valued consumers and interpreters alike. This distinguishing characteristic enabled Interpretek to become the largest and most well-respected community-based agency in the area, serving thousands of customers annually. Today, Interpretek serves the nation via eight regional offices in Rochester and Rome, NY, Bloomsburg, PA, Burlington, VT, Orlando and Jacksonville, FL, Atlanta, GA, and Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas.

Video Remote Interpreting

As our name implies, Interpretek also specializes in the use of technology to supply sign language interpreting services. We utilize the latest innovations to expand your communication options. Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) broadcasts an interpreter through video conferencing equipment to a location where an in-person professional is not available.

Like our community interpreting services, successful VRI sessions use only sign language interpreters who are qualified, experienced, and adhere to professional standards. According to the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, VRI is not a comprehensive replacement for all onsite interpreting. At Intepretek, we will evaluate your situation to help you determine if VRI is an option for you. We’ll take a look at the setting from which you’ll be connecting, the consumers who will be using the service, our technical specifications, and more.

We are committed to preparing adequately for each assignment we accept and we work hard to insure the best communication access possible for you, your facility, and your deaf consumers. If you are a qualified, experienced interpreter who would like to know more about joining our team, please visit our Careers page.
